This is absolutely one of the most touching pieces of literature that I have ever read. The main character was an admirable person with very admirable traits. The sad and tragic past she experienced touched me so much. Her perseverance was very touching, as she refused to stay down for long. Her loss of family and coincidental rescue by the strange people is a very interesting way to show the compassion of humanity. The trials she faced to prove her worth to her new family were ones that should have left her broken. Her own quest to find her place left her in troublesome situations and some even made me laugh. The happiness that she found was enough to bring me to tears. Yet the betrayal and abuse she faced made me feel murderous towards her oppressor. This book is a book that is a must read for those who like a tragic story that involves the strength of the human spirit. This is a truly touching piece of literature.
