Catching Fire is a sequel to the popular book The Hunger Games. Katniss, after winning the Hunger Games, has moved her family into the victor’s village. She’s enjoying her time back in District 12 until President Snow makes an appearance at her house. She has inadvertently begun a rebellion in the other districts, and now she and Peeta must try to put out the flames of rebellion before they consume the entirety of Panem. Although this book is slow to get to the action, once you hit the climax you won’t be able to put it down. The first person view allows the reader to connect deeply with Katniss as she struggles to survive, while the excellent twists and turns in the plot keep us excited to turn the next page. If you like survival, rebellion, betrayal, subtle romantic triangles, and a deep story told in the first person, then Catching Fire is what you’re looking for.
